Family Medicine, Women's Healthcare Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. It is a division of primary care that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, sexes, diseases, and parts of the body. It is based on knowledge of the patient in the context of the family and the community, emphasizing disease prevention and health promotion/GYN, as doctors in this specialty are called, look afterwomen’s reproductive health, dealing with birth control, pregnancy, and fertility. They also treat breast and cervical cancer and sexually transmitted diseases. The Primary Health Network is a Federally Qualified Health Center(FQHC) that provides Primary Care, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Specialty Services. Offices are located in 11 counties in Pennsylvania and one in Eastern Ohio. Primary Health Network accepts all patients, regardless of their insurance status, and offers a Sliding Fee Scale to eligible patients. The Sliding Fee discount qualifications are based on household income and size. Primary Health Network has teamed up with local pharmacies to offer discounted pricing on all medications. Through the federally funded340B Prescription Drug Pricing Program, nearly every drug is purchased at reduced costs. Those savings are passed on to patients. Assistance with the Health Insurance Marketplace to the community members and patients is also available.
